It was late in the evening on November 4 that a kind of cleaning machine, called a "waste collector", exploded and caused a fire. A technician working on the machine was seriously injured in the accident. He has not yet been able to be heard in the ongoing investigation into work environment violations because he is still under anesthesia, according to prosecutor Christer B Jarlås.

"The information I've been given is that he's going to be under anesthesia for a few weeks," he says.

Planning start-up

At the battery factory in Skellefteå, plans are now being made to be able to restart work at the accident site in a safe way.

"The start-up will be done continuously in different phases," says Sanna Bäckström.

What are the consequences of this workplace accident for the company?

"It's quite secondary. What we have had to do during the past week is to take care of employees who have had questions and provide counselling to make them feel safe. That's what we've focused on, we'll have to deal with the remaining pieces later," says Sanna Bäckström.
