In his address, the legislator noted that in recent years, the federal authorities have been making significant efforts aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle in society and reducing the consumption of alcoholic beverages, including through appropriate restrictions.

Currently, as Khamzaev recalled, restrictions have been imposed in the regions of Russia on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages at night, manufacturers of alcoholic beverages do not have the right to use advertising in the media and on the Internet to promote their goods.

At the same time, it is well known that the design of the packaging of goods also has information and visual content that can attract buyers, and in this area, manufacturers of alcoholic beverages today are not limited in any way, the deputy noted.

When visiting alcohol sections in grocery stores, you can easily notice that a considerable share of retail containers of alcohol contains images of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian architectural monuments, including religious buildings that are well recognizable and in relation to which tens of millions of citizens have positive emotions and a sense of pride.

But these historical and religious objects, the parliamentarian noted, have nothing to do with alcoholic beverages, and the use of their images on labels is a marketing ploy in order to increase sales.

"In this regard, I ask you to instruct to work out the position of the department on amending the regulatory legal acts in terms of introducing a ban for producers of alcoholic beverages to use images of monuments of secular and religious architecture on retail packaging, with the exception of objects that are directly related to the alcohol industry (historical wineries, etc.)," the text of the appeal says.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture supported the idea of allowing the online sale of alcohol in Russia.

At the same time, Rospotrebnadzor adheres to the opposite position.
