Military and strategic expert Maj. Gen. Fayez al-Duwairi said that fighting battles are taking place in all areas entered by the Israeli occupation army in the Gaza Strip, revealing the approaches adopted by the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas", to counter the ground attack.

Al-Duwairi explained – in his military analysis to Al-Jazeera – that the Qassam Brigades resorted to confronting and stopping the incursive Israeli forces as much as they could, in addition to adopting zero-distance fighting, as well as attacking the rear of the invading forces.

He reiterated that the arrival of Israeli forces to new places does not mean control, citing the operations announced by the Qassam today, referring to the areas entered by the occupation army at the beginning of the ground war in the far northwest and southwest of Gaza.

Al-Duwairi invoked al-Qassam operations to illustrate his speech through close-range sniper operations in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, as well as the use of a TBG anti-bunker launcher, which is struck from a distance of between 100 and 150 meters.

As for the mechanism used by the Israeli army in its ground entry into Gaza City, the military expert explained that Tel Aviv pushed 3 teams at the beginning of the operation in several directions, in batches and not as a clear bloc.

These forces are fighting in a narrow area, a limited area and residential buildings, he said, adding that "new forces are pushed from behind with each advance," noting that Israeli forces and crews are being replaced in an attempt to avoid previous mistakes and send new troops.

The size of the Israeli force penetrating into Gaza is large, roughly equivalent to two brigades in the military sense, al-Duwairi said, "so temporary emplacement and assembly points are being established, and berms are erected to secure the hull of the tanks, not all of them".

He reiterated that what is currently happening is "mobile fighting", as the occupation army resorts to entering any street, small or large, after intensive air, land and sea preparation, believing that it destroys some tunnels and closes their openings.

As for the return of the Qassam Brigades' bombing of Tel Aviv, Duwairi said it carries a message that it can target central Israel, noting that no one knows when the current battle will end because what is currently going on is a finger biting operation "and whoever shouts first makes concessions."

The military expert downplayed the impact of bad weather on the course of the battle, saying that the Israeli Air Force is working under various conditions because it belongs to the fifth generation of fighter jets such as the F-35, the latest winged fighter.

The weather also has a limited impact on the Qassam Brigades, he said, but the difficulty is greater for displaced Palestinians and refugees in shelters.
