On November 11th, the International Communication Dialogue on China's Grand Canal Cultural Belt was held in Beijing, where experts and scholars discussed the spiritual connotation and innovative expression of the Grand Canal culture and promoted the Grand Canal culture to the world.

In the roundtable dialogue held on the same day, Qu Ru, director of the Beijing International Cultural Communication Research Base of Beijing Second University of Foreign Chinese, believed that the cultivation and incubation of IP is an important way of cultural communication. To promote the culture of the Grand Canal to the world, it is worth exploring the form of finding high-quality content for IP.

There are a lot of stories along the Grand Canal, there are a lot of cultural symbols, in fact, there is a lot of content that can be IP, here is "Dream of Red Mansions", there is the story of Cao Xueqin, where he boarded a boat to Beijing, created in Zhangjiawan, and left us a masterpiece of the world. In ancient times, there were four very important stages of the spread of Chinese culture, such as the Qing Dynasty, including the Yuan Dynasty, there were many missionaries, and foreign travelers, including Marco Polo and Matteo Ricci, they can actually become very important IP images for future development.

Du Jing, a senior journalist and deputy secretary-general of the China Newspaper Supplement Research Association, believes that the Grand Canal has a rich historical heritage and has inexhaustible international communication resources. It is not only necessary to do a good job in IP, but also to innovate as much as possible and strengthen the emotional cultivation of young people.

In terms of the international dissemination of the Grand Canal, I think that in addition to traditional books and pictures, there are also literature, dramas, animations, etc. I think it's also important because there are also students and young people here today, and I think it is necessary to strengthen the emotional cultivation of young people about the culture of the Grand Canal. Whether it is "going out" or "inviting in", the form should be flexible and diverse, the content (is) rich and colorful, and it should also be open and inclusive, so that friends from all over the world can tell the story of China and the story of the Grand Canal.

Master Xinran, the abbot of Zhenguo Temple in Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province, introduced a pearl on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal - Zhenguo Temple Tower with a thousand-year history. In his view, the Grand Canal has a long history and culture, and it should be promoted to the world with the help of more modern means.

I would like to offer two personal thoughts on how to tell the story of the canal in the new era. One I would like to suggest along the canal is whether our government can do some new ways of disseminating intangible cultural heritage, including making some reasonable use of intangible cultural heritage derivatives. The second I think is whether we can build more modern digital Grand Canal, just now I see that many teachers have already talked about it, and a lot of digital construction has been done on the Grand Canal, I feel that it is possible to learn from more platforms and do more promotion.
