  • Fran and Cayetano Rivera Family: "Crimes may have a statute of limitations, but evil cannot"

While Tana Rivera did not stop working with earphones included, her parents, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo and Francisco Rivera Ordóñez, were walking the red carpet of the flamenco gala organized by Universal - where Tana works - in the Plaza de España in Seville on the occasion of the Latin Grammys.

Eugenia, with Narcís Rebollo; Fran Rivera, alone, without his wife, Lourdes Montes. After a while, Cayetano Rivera also arrived, also unaccompanied.

Upon his arrival, Francisco spoke to LOC, commenting on the wonder that "flamenco is given its place, it is something to be thanked for and valued. Congratulations to Universal. I'm very happy, because I'm flamenco. I'm here to enjoy everything, the unique setting, the reason for the party, the party itself, the flamingos...".

He also wanted to highlight how proud he was that his daughter Tana was organizing this entire event, as part of the label's team. "What's more, today's event has been organized by Cayetana. She's part of the organization, and that's why I'm very happy, and I've also come to support her. She's fantastic, working long hours, as she should, and I'm very happy."

She added that Tana is delighted with so many great artists gathered, both those who took the stage -Sara Baras, Tomatito, Dorantes, Estrella Morente, Israel Fernández, Alba Molina...- and those who attended guests, among them, David Bisbal with his wife, Rosanna Zanetti; Pablo López, Juanes -with his wife, Karen Cecilia Martínez-, Sebastián Yatra -the last one arrived, after missing the plane, with the gala already started, without going through the photocall and without Aitana-, Pastora Soler, Morat, Lola Índigo, Argentina, as well as well-known faces such as Juana Martín, Los Morancos, María del Monte, the widow of Camarón de la Isla, the Spark...

And even the U.S. ambassador to Spain, Julissa Reynoso Pantaleón, and the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, this time, without his wife, Manuela Villena.

"The whole team has worked very hard, logically, also my daughter Tana. And the place couldn't be more wonderful," Francis added. Despite the fact that in the city there has been some criticism for the installation of the tent in the Plaza de España. "Since everything is criticized, it doesn't matter. You have to put courage into criticizing this," he said.

He also commented that the arrival of the Latin Grammys in the Andalusian capital "is a luxury for Seville, I think that any city in the world would kill to have them. It's fantastic."

And he ended by commenting that he is now "working a lot, but on very boring topics that don't interest anyone." And not a word about his brother Cayetano, who arrived a while later on the red carpet and did say that "of course there will be a greeting with my brother, always, that without a doubt. I've been told he's already inside, I'll see him now."

There was a bit of tension between the brothers as a result of some statements by Francis, who said that his brother "is caught by the bull because he is very clumsy."

Cayetano also spoke about his niece Tana. "Of course I've seen her, we're all very excited to see how her path goes, and we're very proud of her."

She commented that she would not dare to sing or dance flamenco, "because I am clear that it is not my thing. Although I'm not going to say I've ever done it in the 46 years I'm in, and depending on the time as well," he joked.

About the gala, he said that "a tribute to flamenco was necessary. It's well deserved, it's our roots, part of our culture, of which we are very proud, and even more so in such an important week for music worldwide."

Bullfighting and flamenco. "We are very inspired by feeling and flamenco is just that, feeling; Just as flamenco has often inspired bullfighting. We feed off each other."

There was no way he would highlight any of the night's performers, even though some of them are friends of his family, though he did say he knows more about some "with whom I've had more dealings. But I come to see everyone equally. What matters in the end is flamenco, and all of them are great artists who are going to delight us with their music and their feeling. I'm happy to be here."

Francisco was seen as happy shortly before the end of the gala, dancing Sevillanas with Alejandra Osborne, Bertín's daughter.
