A forest fire declared in the Sierra de Segària in the municipality of Ràfol d'Almúnia, in the Alicante region of Marina Alta, has mobilised a large number of firefighters and forestry brigades, and is visible in much of the north of the province of Alicante.

The fire is clearly perceptible from nearby towns such as Dénia, Orba and Benimeli, on a day where the north of Alicante has recorded temperatures close to 30 degrees and in the late afternoon around 25 degrees, with a westerly wind with gusts of 30 kilometers per hour and low humidity, over 30 percent.

According to Emergencies of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters, the fire was detected at around 20:45 p.m. at the back of the Sierra de Segària, at kilometer 12 of the CV728, and a dozen units from the parks of Dénia, Cocentaina and Benidorm have been mobilized.

Three units of the forest firefighters have joined the work with three fire engines, coordinated by the Forest Fire Prevention Center, which has received 167 calls associated with this incident.

The Generalitat has established situation 1 of the special plan against forest fires and at 7.40 a.m. the air resources are expected to leave if the weather conditions allow it.

In a message posted on the social network X, the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, said that he is "following very closely" the forest fire in Ràfol d'Almúnia and highlighted "the tireless work" of the firefighters of the Provincial Consortium, dependent on the Provincial Council.
