A U.S. military plane crashed after an accident during a drill in the eastern Mediterranean on Friday evening, a statement issued by the US Military Command in Europe (UPCOM) said in a statement on Saturday.
The U.S. military has not specified the type of plane or where it was flying, but the United States is deploying an aircraft carrier to the region as part of its efforts to prevent the war between Israel and Hamas from turning into a regional conflict.
"On the evening of the tenth of November, a US military aircraft - which was conducting training operations in the eastern Mediterranean - suffered an unfortunate accident and went down," Yukom said in a statement, without providing information on the fate of the crew.
"We can categorically say that the plane was only on a training sortie, and there are no indications of hostile activity," she said, adding that the cause of the training accident was currently under investigation.
