Today, cremation is more common than burial. A consequence of the fact that relatives today live in other places and do not have the same opportunity to visit the gravesite, says vicar Ulrika Markgren in Skellefteå.

"Today, we see it in a different practical way," she says.

Ulrika Markgren does not believe that burials will disappear in the future.

"As long as the tradition is there or that you are locally close by, it will remain. But in cases where you live further away, cremations will increase. We see it as a big-city phenomenon, it has also become a consequence of the fact that there is not an unlimited amount of burial ground," she says.

In the clip, the vicar talks about how the Church of Sweden views increased cremations.
