The government of the Gaza Strip denied the Israeli army's claims that there is a tunnel belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) under Hamad bin Khalifa Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, stressing that these allegations are part of a disinformation campaign carried out by the occupation aimed at justifying the bombing of hospitals.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari posted a video showing what he said was a tunnel under Hamad bin Khalifa Hospital, which was funded by the government of the State of Qatar to serve the population in the Gaza Strip.

The video showed the tunnel opening that Hagari claimed had been discovered by the Israeli army during the current ground operation, and showed what he said was shooting by Hamas fighters from inside the hospital at Israeli soldiers.

Salameh Maarouf, head of the Gaza government's media office, denied Haghari's allegations and confirmed the government's readiness to receive any international inspection committee to assess the conditions of the hospital or other hospitals.

Maarouf stressed in a press conference that hospitals are used to provide medical care to the wounded and sick only, and said that what the occupation army presented is nothing but fabrication and misinformation aimed at justifying the bombing of Gaza Strip hospitals.

He added that the engineering company that supervised the project confirmed through engineer Saad Al-Wahidi that the opening offered by Hagaray is the opening of the fuel tank and not the opening of the tunnel as claimed.

Maarouf held international bodies, including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Criminal Court, responsible for protecting hospitals, especially Shifa Hospital.
