Earlier this year, a family with young children moved back to Gaza, after living in Sweden for several years. Both parents have been working as doctors in southern Sweden, but now the father's friend Hani Altatari can't get hold of his friend.

"I've tried and tried in all different ways, but it didn't work. It's a person you know and after a day or an hour there's no contact at all. You think that the person might be dead all of a sudden. It's really hard," he says.

Tells about the last conversation

In his last conversation with his friend in Gaza, he heard the bombs falling outside. Then he told us how he handles the nightly air strikes on Gaza.

"The only thing he can do is throw himself at his children to protect them, so he can get hurt and not them," says Hani Altatari.

SVT has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which currently has no information to provide about Hani's friend's family.

Has family in Gaza

Hani Altatari is himself from Gaza and has a lot of friends and family in the region, which has now turned into a war zone. He says that it is difficult to get in touch with loved ones who are in the Gaza Strip, something that affects him psychologically.

"I don't feel well at all. It's not just because of my friend, but I'm from there myself and I know a lot of people there, including my family," he says, adding:

"You never know, every second counts. I'll call as many people as I want because you never know. Maybe it could be the last time.
