The lecture is a collaboration between Gameffect and Folkuniversitetet and the aim is for children to find a balance between gaming, exercise, sleep and a good diet. Another purpose is for parents to become more involved in their children's computer gaming and together with the children be able to find a good balance.

"As a child, it's important that the parents are there as a pillar of support and help when boundaries are to be set," says Filippa Ahlberg at Gameffect, which arranges the LAN in Huskvarna.

More lectures to come

The lecture is part of a project to achieve more sustainable gaming. Some parents joined in to listen to Filippa Ahlberg talk about the risks of too much gambling, such as deteriorating health due to reduced physical activity.

But she also highlighted the positive effects that computer gaming can have, such as relaxation, improved coordination, increased English skills and that it provides a social context for many.

The aim is to continue with the lectures in the future in different contexts.

The children on autumn break who gathered for LAN in Huskvarna on Sunday and Monday will have the opportunity to participate in a number of tournaments in e-sports, including Minecraft.
