Lebanon's Hezbollah said it shot down an Israeli drone with a surface-to-air missile in southern Lebanon, marking the first time the group has announced such an operation, amid escalating clashes on the Lebanese border.

The party said the drone was hit near the tent area, about 5 kilometers from the border with Israel, and was seen crashing into Israeli territory.

Two security sources in Lebanon said it was the first time Hezbollah had claimed the downing of an Israeli drone.

The Israeli military, which claimed responsibility for more attacks, did not comment on what it called Hezbollah targets on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said one of its personnel was wounded after shells hit a UNIFIL base near the village of Houla on the Lebanese-Israeli border on Saturday.
