The Municipal Police arrested a 28-year-old driver yesterday afternoon who, after being about to run over a woman in San Blas, began a wild escape of more than 30 kilometers between Madrid capital and the municipality of Pinto. A dozen police vehicles took part in the chase in which he hit several patrol cars, drove in the opposite direction, almost ran over a woman and was about to run over two officers who were slightly injured. Finally, he was intercepted on the A-4 in Pinto. He tested positive for cocaine and ended up hospitalized on October 12.

The events began around mid-afternoon when a Municipal Police car observed how a Peugeot vehicle was about to run over a woman in San Blas. At that moment, the agents try to stop him and he flees. The car escaped and struck other vehicles in the evasion. He headed towards the M-30 at high speed.

On the capital's ring road, a patrol car was flagged for an accident. These agents observed how a vehicle approached their area at high speed, without slowing down and carrying out an abnormal driving between the vehicles. The suspect car had obvious damage from an accident (partial loss of bumper and both wings with impacts).

The police stopped him, but the driver ignored it and accelerated towards the officers, who had to jump out of the way and avoid being run over.

Due to the seriousness of the facts, the two agents got into the vehicle and began the chase with the lights and acoustics placed in the direction of the A-4 exit from Madrid, requesting police collaboration. Officers verified that the suspect vehicle had rear damage, lacked license plates, and had a hole in the vehicle's sheet metal that could correspond to a bullet impact.

Up to km 12,500 of the A-4, the agents ordered the vehicle to stop, ignoring it and trying on several occasions to hit the police vehicle. The fugitive entered a gas station at high speed and through several streets of an industrial estate in the municipality of Getafe, stopping and accelerating, as well as going in the opposite direction and causing cars, pedestrians and cyclists to have to retreat to avoid being run over.

In the chase, the car hit the police patrol car several times, causing serious damage to it. The Peugeot then took the A-4 in the opposite direction, making a U-turn at one point to join the traffic.

The Municipal Police asked for help from the Civil Guard to hold back traffic and thus be able to corner the vehicle. The chase was joined by several cars of the Municipal Police that blocked the way to the car and managed to encapsulate it at kilometer 20 of the A-4, in Pinto.

The driver was arrested after assaulting the officers from inside the vehicle and resisting, having to be pulled out of the car window.

The Air Support Section collaborated in the intervention, providing security to the area, and later making a planimetry to incorporate it into the proceedings of the Judicial Traffic Police Station. On the alcohol and drug test, the arrestee tested positive for cocaine.

Summa doctors took the driver to the 12 de Octubre Hospital and also treated the two injured officers.
