The Green Party's election committee now seems to be ready with its proposal for a new spokesperson. According to information from SVT, the election committee plans to propose Member of Parliament Daniel Helldén as Per Bolund's successor.

The news was supposed to be presented at a press conference on Thursday, but a press conference never took place.

The reason, according to sources to Ekot and SvD, is that the current spokesperson Märta Stenevi did not want to participate together with Helldén.

Stenevi: "Nonsense"

Märta Stenevi, however, denies the informants' version of events. "Enough of the nonsense," she writes on Facebook, stating that she traveled to Malmö on Wednesday evening for family reasons.

"If anyone in the party thinks it's unreasonable, I suggest that it be raised with me next time, not with the media," she continues.

Taking the focus away from the fresh start

A new press conference where the election committee's candidate will be presented is scheduled for Friday morning, but even if Helldén is then presented as planned, information of this kind will have major consequences, says SVT's domestic political commentator Mats Knutson.

"Regardless of what is behind this, it is the opposite of what the Green Party needs," he said in Aktuellt.

"They have had problems reaching out with their policies and now they were going to launch a new radar pair that would turn the party's development. Instead, of course, those who are on stage tomorrow will have to answer questions about the state of the party, he says in Aktuellt.

According to information to SVT, Märta Stenevi has another candidate that she would rather take over the post. Hear Mats Knutson in the clip above.
