"Another target of the special services of the Zelensky regime was the military correspondent of Izvestia V.A. Trushnin, who regularly covers the course of the special military operation from the areas of hostilities," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to Zakharova, the Ukrainian security forces used a traditional technique - recruiting through chatbots in messengers of Russian citizens, who for money transmitted threats to the military correspondent.
"The criminals were detained in hot pursuit. They confessed," the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
She added that, according to the confessions of the arrested, the result of the pressure exerted on the military correspondent should have been reprisals.
The prosecutor's office previously announced the initiation of a case on the fact of threats to the journalist of Izvestia.
