"NATO and Allies are stepping up patrols in the Baltic Sea following the recent accident on undersea infrastructure in the region," the statement said.
It is noted that NATO will organize additional reconnaissance and observation flights using aircraft, minesweepers and drones.
On October 8, the gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia was shut down due to a possible leak. Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said the damage could be caused by an external impact.
Later, the Finnish criminal police completed the inspection of the site of the damage to the Balticconnector gas pipeline. The collected samples were submitted for examination.
