While he had been acquitted at first instance, Mamadou Diallo was finally sentenced this Thursday during his appeal trial by the Rhône Assize Court to 16 years in prison for the murder of a postal worker in 2008. He is due to be taken into custody later that evening.

Mamadou Diallo, who was acquitted at first instance, was sentenced on Thursday to 16 years in prison for the murder of a postal worker in Ain in 2008, during his appeal trial before the Rhône Assize Court.

When the verdict was announced, after more than three hours of deliberation, the accused plunged his head into his hands for a long time. He appeared free and is due to be remanded in custody in the evening.
