Uppsalahem summoned residents on Väktargatan in Uppsala to what was described in an email as an "urgent information meeting" on Thursday.

The reason is serious subsidence damage that has been found in connection with inspections, according to Uppsalahem.

Houses have sunk into the mud – this can cause cracks in the façade and cause sloping floors. The frame of the house must therefore be examined.

A total of 72 households

A total of six properties and 72 households will be emptied before the end of the year.

"We've just had a baby and spent a lot of money on the patio," says Marcel Génetay, one of the residents affected by the hasty move.

"Will we end up in barracks? Or where do we go?

According to Benny Enholm, head of administration at Uppsalahem, the residents will most likely not be able to return to their apartments.

"During the investigation, further renovation needs may emerge, which means that this can be very protracted," he says.

How will you manage to find accommodation for all 72 households?

"We have a large property portfolio and will solve it," says Benny Enholm.
