Have you ever imagined that what you fear most would be unrecognized if you were killed along with your entire family in a heavy bombardment in a devastating war?

This is the case for children displaced from their homes at the Shifa Medical Complex, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, who decided to write their names on their hands, so that they would be easily identifiable if they were killed along with all their family members in light of the ongoing intensified Israeli raids on Gaza.

Palestinian children took this step because there were many unidentified martyrs, especially those who were martyred in the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, which witnessed a horrific massacre on Tuesday evening in which about 500 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli raid, according to the tally of the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

At al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, Ahmad Abu al-Sabaa, 35, writes his name and the names of his children and relatives on their hands.

"We write our names on our hands and the names of our sons on their hands to enable our bodies to be identified if the occupation planes bomb us," Abu al-Saba said.

He added that there are many martyrs, especially children, whose families are difficult to reach, pointing out that the occupation does not discriminate between anyone and bombs everywhere.

Race to register names

Hundreds of children raced to register their names at the hospital.

Thousands of Palestinians were displaced to Shifa Hospital, west of Gaza City, as their homes were shelled by Israel.

The displaced fear that Israeli warplanes will bomb al-Shifa Hospital, as they did at the Baptist Hospital in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

They live in a difficult humanitarian reality and do not have the slightest necessities of life because of the war.

Since 7 October, some 3800,12 Palestinians have been killed and more than <>,<> injured in the ongoing Israeli bombardment.
