The Tunisian Ministry of Culture announced the cancellation of the 34th edition of the Carthage Film Festival, in solidarity with the Palestinian people in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

"In view of the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and all the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of the brutal Zionist aggression, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs has decided to cancel the organization of the 34th edition of the Carthage Film Days," the ministry said in a statement.

The decision to cancel the 34th edition of the Carthage Film Festival comes a few hours after announcing the postponement of the sixth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, while Cairo announced on Tuesday the postponement of its next edition.

Carthage Days were scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 4.

During the past few days, the festival management revealed the details of the new session, and the films participating in the various competitions were announced, where a group of films were scheduled to participate in the feature film competition, including "Ma Kan Waloo" by Algerian director Merzak Allouache, the Yemeni film "The Exhausted" directed by Amr Gamal, and the film "Goodbye Julia" by Sudanese director Mohammed Al-Kordofani.

In the short fiction competition, it was planned to participate in more than one Arab film, including "When do we meet? After a year" by Tunisian director Amani Jaafar, "Blood Like Water" by Dima Hamdan and "Sukrania 59" by Abdullah Al-Khatib.
