"Once again, the targets of attacks were such important civilian infrastructure in Syria as airports. Thus, the lives of innocent people and the safety of international air traffic were exposed to a real threat," the ministry said.

Such violent actions in the context of a sharp aggravation of the situation "are fraught with extremely dangerous consequences," Moscow emphasized.

The SANA news agency previously reported that the airports of Damascus and Aleppo were closed after Israeli aircraft carried out air strikes on these targets.

After that, the Israeli publication Ynet, citing a source, reported that the plane of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian returned back to Tehran in connection with an attack by Israeli aviation.
