Only one other park has a higher megawatt, which makes Mjällby's new solar park the second largest in the entire country. On 16 hectares of land there are 20,000 solar panels.

"Mjällby is a fantastic place because it generates a lot of solar power. There's a lot of sunlight here," says Pontus Skog, who has led the project, which began just under two years ago.

Member of Parliament Heléne Björklund (S) from Sölvesborg was on site during the windy Thursday afternoon, and had the honor of inaugurating the park by putting in the large, red connector. Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board Kith Mårtensson (M) was also present.

"I'm very happy about this, I hope there will be more solar and wind farms here in our municipality," she says.
