Former Hamas leader Khaled Meshal called on Muslims to show their anger on Friday in support of the Palestinians. Terror researcher Magnus Ranstorp says that in the worst case, it can lead to violence.

"Meshaal is trying to mobilize Palestinians living in the diaspora, especially in neighboring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon, but also in the West, where we will certainly see public demonstrations on Friday," Ranstorp told TT.

Guarding the synagogue

The move leads to, among other things, the local police area Norrköping taking action. This includes increased surveillance at the city's synagogue and at the places in Norrköping where new mosques are being built.

"We have also increased our collaboration with the Interfaith Council and the Jewish community. In addition to that, we have reviewed our own routines and made our own staff aware, writes local police area manager Frida Braf to SVT Nyheter Öst.

According to the police, they are also in close cooperation with Norrköping Municipality, which is also taking measures linked to the Hamas leader's statement and the developments in Israel and Gaza.
