In December 2022, doctor Rafik Abu-Ramadan was sentenced to nine months in prison for sexually assaulting two young women he had received as patients at a private health center in Malmö.

The Court of Appeal considers that Rafik Abu-Ramadan has so seriously abused his trust as a doctor that the penalty value is higher than what the District Court found and is equivalent to imprisonment for one year.

Doctor's license revoked pending Court of Appeal ruling

It was not until six months after the verdict in Malmö District Court that the Health and Medical Care Board's Disciplinary Board (HSAN) decided to temporarily revoke his medical license, following a request from the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.

Rafik Abu-Ramadan has denied the crimes.
