The British Foreign Office said in a statement on Thursday that Britain will facilitate the availability of flights to help Britons leave Israel, and announced the withdrawal of families of its diplomatic staff.

The statement noted that the first flight is scheduled to leave Tel Aviv on Thursday, and the statement said: "The priority in these flights will be for Britons at risk. At that stage, we will be in contact with those who meet the requirements for boarding those flights directly, and no Briton should go to the airport without contacting him."

He added that the flights would be available to Britons and dual nationals, and their dependents would also be able to travel if they came with a Briton who normally lives in the UK.

The flights are commercial, costing £300 ($369.12) to ticket.

The UK also announced the withdrawal of families of its diplomatic staff in Israel as a "precautionary measure" and advised against non-essential travel to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are temporarily withdrawing relatives of staff from our embassy in Tel Aviv and consulate in Jerusalem, as a precaution and in line with our travel recommendations."

The announcement comes a day after British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly visited Israel to reaffirm Britain's unwavering support.
