President Joe Biden's administration plans to impose sanctions on five Turkish companies and a Turkish citizen, a senior US Treasury official said on Thursday, accusing them of helping Russia evade sanctions and supporting Moscow in its war on Ukraine.

Among the companies affected by the sanctions are three Turkish companies suspected of supplying parts and equipment to manufacture drones for Russian companies in the field of defense, and the sanctions targeted two Turkish companies in addition to the owner of one of the companies on charges of providing services to the Russian maritime sector.

The company is among more than 150 individuals, companies and institutions blacklisted Thursday by both the U.S. Treasury and State Departments for their supposed role in supporting Russia's war on Ukraine.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, the United States and other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia to weaken its economy and obstruct its war efforts, placing Russia at the top in terms of the number of sanctions imposed on it, surpassing Iran.

Russia has declared a kind of "counter-war" and carried out the largest operation to support the local currency, and the ruble has reached a better level than it was earlier this year.
