The Russian invasion of Ukraine seems to have spilled over into neighbouring Romania. Just over a week ago, the remains of a Russian drone were found on the Romanian side of the Danube River, which separates the NATO country from its neighbour Ukraine.

Now the Romanian army is taking measures to strengthen the defence of the border.

"It's about airspace surveillance and the airborne task force. We can guard the entire Romanian border by air and sea 24 hours a day, says General Vlad when SVT's correspondent meets him at the border.

The tension also means increased concern for Romanians living near the border. Daniela Tanase, who lives in the village of Plauru, tells how she is awakened at night by the sound of the attacks carried out on the other side of the river.
