The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will not be able to travel to New Delhi to attend the G-20 Summit held this weekend having tested positive for Covid, as he announced in a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter). In her place will travel the first vice president of the Government, Nadia Calviño. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, will also attend the meeting.

"Spain will be magnificently represented by the first vice president and minister of Economic Affairs and the minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation," Sánchez said in X. "I feel fine," he added to make it clear that he has no serious symptoms. The positive for Covid has been revealed precisely in the mandatory test to the leaders who were going to attend the G-20 Summit.

The head of the Spanish Executive "will continue to work from his residence", as reported Thursday by the Secretary of State for Communication.

The war in Ukraine, the military escalation on the India-China border, sanctions on Russia, pressures for debt restructuring are some of the issues that will be addressed at the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10 in the Indian capital.
