During the night to Sunday and during Monday, large amounts of precipitation have fallen in northwestern Skåne. This has meant that there is a lot of water in the pipeline systems that takes care of wastewater such as wastewater.

"There is a lot of water in all our municipalities. But we are working on and ensuring that there is function in our facilities, says Pär Gustafsson, Department Manager Northwest Skånes Avlopp och Vatten.

Wastewater flows into the sea

In some places, overflow is done to prevent wastewater from going backwards and risking causing flooding. This means that untreated water is discharged to streams and streams or directly into the sea. Even the wastewater discharged into streams and rivers is eventually led to the Sound.

"It's very, very diluted because there's so much rain. It is mostly rainwater, but it contains toilet water," says Pär Gustafsson.

Where the peak load is, the head of department cannot answer yet.

"I can't see how much and where we've overflowed, we're out working right now to make the system work," he says.
