The weather behind

According to the police, the accident was caused by the railway embankment being undermined by the heavy rain and collapsed. According to SJ, the speed was low due to the weather.

"What I can say at the moment is that it did not go at any high speed due to the high water flows," says Martina Nord, press communicator at SJ.

Stop for the rest of the week

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, there will be a stop between Iggesund and Hudiksvall until the end of the week.

"We currently have staff on site who are reviewing the plant's damage. It is up to the railway companies whether they want to replace the routes with buses or divert the trains, says Denny Josefsson, communications officer at the Swedish Transport Administration

In an earlier version of the article, we had information that three people had been taken to hospital, which was incorrect.
