Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202316h00, August 07, 2023

It is one of the most famous royal favorites in the history of France. Introduced at Versailles in 1745, Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour (1721-1764), became the mistress, friend and advisor of Louis XV (1710-1774) until his death. A central figure of the Court, the new favourite stirred up jealousy and became the target of violent pamphlets: fishmonas. A patron of the arts, she surrounded herself with the great authors of her time such as Voltaire, Montesquieu, Diderot and d'Alembert. Virginie Girod takes you to Versailles, to meet this influential royal mistress.
