A group of Hindus affiliated with the extremist group Bagrange Dal organized a demonstration to demand a curb in the demographic growth of Muslims in the country.

A video circulating on social media platforms showed the protest organized by the Hindu community on Tuesday in the city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

The protesters demanded that the teaching of "Hindu scriptures" be made compulsory and that a census-control law be enacted to "save Hinduism" in the country.

Indian reports quoted that the extremist group "Bajrang Dal" organized on Tuesday a march in which participants were involved in fomenting fear against Muslims and demanded a bill to control the population.

One of the main concerns of India's nationalist Hindu is the increase in the country's Muslim population, claiming that this would eliminate Hindu dominance.

False sayings

These activities are carried out under the rule of the Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is accused of committing abuses against Muslims, which worries international rights organizations.

In April, India's finance minister told an international conference that India had the world's second-largest Muslim community and that the country's population growth was limited to Muslims alone.

But India's Outlook website quoted experts as saying the minister's statement "only revived the falsity of familiar myths about the so-called Muslim population explosion" in India.

A report by the website concluded that the number of Muslims could by no means exceed the number of Hindus in the next thousand years.
