The Pentagon announced on Wednesday its intention to tighten restrictions on top-secret information following an alleged leak that led to the arrest
of an air navigator in April, and later charged with publishing classified documents on the Discord messaging app.

The 45-day review did not identify a specific technical failure, but the Pentagon said policies, including on electronic devices in sensitive areas, were vague and led to uneven implementation.

The Pentagon said the new measures include the appointment of "top-secret information watchdogs," the creation of a new insider threat bureau, and plans for electronic device detection systems in work areas that contain top-secret information.

Jack Douglas Teixeira, 21, of North Dayton, Massachusetts, faced six counts in June of deliberately keeping and publishing classified national defense information.

The leak of the documents, posted on social media, is believed to be the most serious security breach since more than 700,2010 documents, videos and diplomatic correspondence were posted on WikiLeaks in <>.

Prosecutors say Teixeira leaked confidential documents to a group of gamers on Discord.
