In the course of the investigation into a man who was arrested near the home of former US President Barack Obama, the prosecutor's office is making a connection to a post on the net of his successor Donald Trump. The man was picked up last week in a residential area in the U.S. capital Washington – weapons and ammunition were found in his car. Prosecutors demanded on Wednesday that Taylor T. be kept in custody until the trial began, describing the events leading up to the arrest in their motion.

The man has therefore shared a post of Trump at Truth Social. Truth Social was co-founded by Trump and is a kind of Twitter replacement for the Republican. In the post in question, Trump shared a longer article in which, among other things, an address of Obama is mentioned.

Taylor T. shared this Trump post and commented with the words: "We have surrounded these losers! See you in hell, Podestas and Obamas." John Podesta was the campaign manager of the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.

According to the indictment, Taylor T. was later on the road near the address mentioned and at the same time broadcast this live on the net via video. "As he walked around, he made several disturbing statements," it said. He is also said to have said that he was looking for a good angle for a shot. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had already targeted the man for invading the seat of parliament during the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The authorities now warned: "T. seems to have delusional beliefs that are incompatible with reality." His history and recent behavior are "highly worrying." It is important that he remains in custody, as there is a "high risk of flight" and a "danger to the general public".
