During the 60s, 70s and well into the 80s, people made pilgrimages to Sörbyparken.

The scenic folk park in Boden municipality is beautifully situated on the shore of Vitträsket and was a meeting place for both dancers and car-goers. This weekend the Sörby Festival was arranged for the first time.

During the day there were a number of activities for children, among others, while the evening was important for the adults. Kent Lidberg from Pasila outside Råneå was there with his motorhome and he enjoyed it to the fullest.

"It brings back a lot of memories. Above all, I remember when Roger Moore landed here on the football field and stepped out of a helicopter. I wasn't old at the time, but I remember it so well," he says.

Nordman in front of 600 visitors

During the day, he and 600 others were able to enjoy good music where Nordman ended the concert block with an acclaimed performance.

The idea of the organizer is to be able to return with more events of this kind.

"Let's hope it will be because this is Sweden's most beautiful park," says Lidberg.

Palle Andersson, who was involved in arranging the future plans, talks about the future plans.

"This is a start-up to bring back much of the folk park culture, but in the 2020s," he says.
