"The United States is considering approving Ukraine's long-standing request for cluster munitions," the publication says.

According to the TV channel, the area of destruction of one such projectile is about five times higher than that of conventional ammunition.

It is noted that cluster munitions are prohibited by an international convention, which has been ratified by 123 countries. The United States and Ukraine are not among them.

Earlier it was reported that discussions about the possibility of supplying Ukraine with cluster munitions have intensified in the US administration.

Also, according to Laura Cooper, Deputy Assistant to the Head of the Pentagon for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, Washington believes that cluster munitions would be useful to the Ukrainian armed forces during the conflict.
