Magdalena Andersson, who on Tuesday summoned the press in connection with the government's decision, began by giving an overall picture of gang crime, inflation, the climate crisis, healthcare and schools, as well as the problems surrounding NATO membership and the war in Ukraine.

"Sweden has many social problems. The fact that we have an opposition is not one of them," she says.

According to Magdalena Andersson, the goal of banning political lotteries is to weaken the Social Democrats.

"What we are seeing now is a government that deliberately uses legislative power to silence the opposition. By trying to cut off our funding, they want to attack our ability to scrutinise the government. SD was clear about what it is about, they want to see shorter May Day parades.

She also counterattacked.

"The municipal and state-owned companies that contribute to the opinion formation of the economic right through their fees to Swedish industry is something that should be examined in this investigation. But also the local party support that some parties use to send up in the organization and be used at national level, if it is to be allowed to do so, says Magdalena Andersson.
