• Interview Amelia Valcárcel: "The PSOE has lost the vote of women because the Government has offended them"
  • 23-J Alarm in the PSOE for the loss of almost one million male vote with Irene Montero in Equality

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has held a closed-door meeting on Tuesday with Amelia Válcarcel, a feminist philosopher traditionally close to the PSOE, the writer Mabel Lozano and the professor of the Carlos III Montserrat Iglesias to address trafficking and trans law.

The most commented intervention has been that of Valcárcel, member of the Council of State from 2006 to 2023, when she was replaced coinciding with her criticism of the trans law. Valcárcel has applauded that the PP supported the PSOE in the counter-reform of the law of only yes is yes "when the PSOE realized to what extent it was creating a monster".

"You could have let it sink and said 'I'll fix it, release 100 more and lift the sentence of 2,500'. You could have done it and you haven't," congratulated Valcárcel, who hinted at his support for Feijóo: "It has been a great, great honesty on your part. And if only for that I give you my confidence, from now on, that you are capable of making an effective feminist policy, because you have done it in this case."

The meeting, organized by the foundation of the PP Reformismo21, was not on Feijóo's public agenda and has taken place amid the controversy over the regional pacts of the Popular Party with Vox.

The PP has reported on this event in a statement, which highlights that Feijóo supports the demands of "classic feminism", the nickname with which they distinguish feminists such as Valcárcel, who after being close to the PSOE has publicly questioned the equality policies of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

In this internal seminar under the title "Risks for minors and challenges of feminism: the queer mirage and sexual exploitation", Feijóo has pledged to approve a law against trafficking in women and children, as the PP denounces that the current Government left theirs in a "drawer".

REJECTION OF THE TRANS LAW

This party details that the three speakers have agreed that the law of only yes is yes has been a "step backwards" for the defense of women's rights and have "praised" the role of the PP to modify it after causing the reduction of penalties to sex offenders and the premature release of rapists.

With Feijóo they also share the rejection of the trans law, which the PP has committed to repeal and replace with another regulation aimed at this group.

Specifically, the note of the PP denounces the "negative effects" of the law in sport considering that it is a way for "some athlete to participate in women's sports competitions with advantages over their rivals."

The leader of the PP has also explained his objective of controlling the access of minors to porn and curbing the negative impact of social networks.

THE CONTROVERSY OF THE "HARD DIVORCE"

This Tuesday, in which he has not had a public agenda, Feijóo has received criticism from the left for affirming that the Vox candidate to the Valencian Community, Carlos Flores, convicted of psychic violence to his ex-wife in 2002, had had a "hard divorce".

The PP has explained that its president did not intend to justify sexist violence, but was reproducing the arguments given by those who minimized said sentence, which did not convince the PP, which vetoed Flores from the negotiation.
