– As the situation is now, it is important to meet and exchange experiences. Many farmers feel bad when drought and heat cause problems for their business," says Stefan Carlsson, Rural Director at the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg.

Two advisors and an animal health veterinarian from Växa have been invited to lecture on the course day on 5 July. Among other things, animal handling will be addressed when heat stress occurs in dairy cows and other cattle. In addition, how a farmer can act in case of feed shortages.

– We had both drought and frost nights late into May, which means that the first harvest ended up at between 35 and 75 percent of a normal harvest. It's not much," says Stefan Carlsson.

According to the County Administrative Board, there are about 2000,200 farms of varying sizes in Kronoberg that annually apply for agricultural support. About <> of these have arable land of one hundred hectares. The rainfall has not been sufficient in recent months and now the authority wants to act.

– There are probably many of the participants who have experience from the drought in 2018, but we as an authority have the task of trying to reach out with information in such situations. Then I think more people want to meet to exchange experiences, says Stefan Carlsson.
