Representatives of overseas Chinese cities from seven provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) of Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan, as well as overseas Chinese businessmen and compatriots from more than ten countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and Tanzania, attended the meeting to seek a new future for the development of overseas Chinese.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to "enhance the influence of the communication power of Chinese civilization, adhere to the position of Chinese culture, tell Chinese stories and disseminate Chinese voices well, show a credible, lovely and respectable image of China, and promote Chinese culture to better go to the world." In this regard, overseas Chinese have the obligation to take responsibility and have more room for opportunities.
According to the organizers, through keynote speeches and urban dialogues, the conference explores the unique advantages of overseas Chinese in international communication, explores the specific practice of overseas Chinese in China's modernization, and aims to build consensus and wisdom for building the international communication power and influence of overseas Chinese.
The hometown of overseas Chinese is an "important window" for the world to understand China. Zhejiang is a key hometown of overseas Chinese in China, with 205.180 million overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, distributed in 233 countries and regions around the world. Jinhua City, where the conference was held, is a large city of Xinqiao, which has established trade relations with 18 countries and regions, and its foreign trade strength ranks 5th in the country. There are 4,131 overseas Chinese in the city, distributed in <> countries and regions.
