For far too long there has been an ominous alliance between the left and right wings of the SPD in relation to Russia.

On the one hand, there are the pragmatic, business-oriented social democrats who have pushed the gas and oil business for years.

And on the other hand, the peace activists, who wanted to see a contribution to world reconciliation in every deal and thus built the ideological foundation for a close partnership with Russia.

SPD chairman Klingbeil recently rightly spoke of blind spots in his party.

It's amazing: The party is currently the place where a realistic Russia policy is being developed.

And not the parliamentary group.

The party left is disoriented

There, the party left is in the majority, and that's why the chairman Mützenich can unabashedly demand that Germany should get involved more diplomatically.

This has long been done in cooperation with Western partners - by strengthening Ukraine to such an extent that peace negotiations make sense in the first place.

The party left, as the statement made clear once again by Mützenich, has been disoriented since Russia's attack on Ukraine.

The processing ordered from above is urgently needed - but it must also be carried out against resistance.

Because the next life lie is already waiting.

This time in Asia.
