The BBC said 28 million Britons watched the funeral of Queen Elizabeth on their screens in their homes, making it one of the most watched events in years.

The authority added that the majority of viewers in Britain watched the funeral on the state-funded channel.

She said 32.5 million watched her coverage at some point, and her viewership peaked at 22.4 million as the Queen's coffin was carried in procession from Westminster Abbey through central London.

And the "BBC" said that the number of viewers was the largest since the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, and was similar to the number of people who watched the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997.
