Today, Saturday, the Council to the Throne announced the inauguration of Charles III as King of the United Kingdom, two days after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 96.

In a historic televised session held at St. James's Palace in London, the council said, "Prince Charles Philip Arthur George is now, on the death of Her Majesty, our King Charles III.. God bless the King."

After his inauguration as king, Charles III pledged to follow the "inspiring example enshrined in our Constitution".

Charles III said that Queen Elizabeth II provided an unparalleled example of government, adding, "Our loss is not compensated by her death."

He stressed that he is well aware of the great duties and responsibilities of the King.
