Liz Truss faced, on September 7, for the first time, the Labor opposition in the British Parliament for a traditional question and answer session.

The chief executive was eagerly awaited, particularly on the soaring cost of living, while the country is facing very high inflation.

Calmer

The atmosphere was a little calmer than under the Johnson era.

Even if, when it comes to Westminster, the debates are always won by applause.

Liz Truss arrived in the House of Commons beaming.

To the applause of her party, she answered questions for a good half hour from the leader of the opposition, Keir Starmer, the leader of the Scottish nationalists, and the rest of the MPs from all parties.

Unlike the Boris Johnson era, now long gone, the "verbal ping-pong" with Keir Starmer was much more refocused on politics, less on personality issues.

The new Prime Minister - by all accounts - is not an outstanding speaker.

His discursive style differs from that of Boris Johnson: less exuberance, less figures of speech, less humor too.

Deliver results

Liz Truss hammered home her promise to deliver results, repeated her government's priorities many times during that half hour: public services, the economy.

It was mainly a question of the energy crisis: “

There will be no exceptional tax for suppliers

”.

This is about the only concrete announcement of this day.

The Prime Minister will unveil her plan to combat rising prices tomorrow, again in Parliament.
