Long before the Sweden Democrats were let into the heat at the national level, they were already in several Scanian municipalities.

- It was moderates who started to open up for SD and try another way.

It is Scanian municipalities that have gone before there and Scanian heavy politicians who have driven the party leadership in that direction, says Maggie Strömberg.

But unusual collaborations across bloc borders to shut out SD also began in the region - as early as 2006, the Alliance joined forces with the Green Party to shut out SD.

A variant of the January agreement also saw the light of day in Malmö before it became a reality in the Riksdag, albeit only between the Social Democrats and the Liberals.

But it is not only in various political collaborations that Skåne has taken the lead, but also in factual political issues.

- The most striking thing I have found is that in the 1930s, the Social Democrats in Malmö introduced a child allowance and it carried an embryo to what later became the general child allowance.

In the housing area, Malmö also preceded the rest of the country and inspired much of the reforms that came after the Second World War, says the historian Gunnar Wetterberg.
