  • Politics Teo García Egea 'SuperTeo' can handle everything: "I would beat Abascal on the tatami"

The PP has chained seven absolute majorities in the Murcian town of Archena, of which three correspond to Patricia Fernández López (41), who has been mayor since 2011. The key to this omnipresence of the

popular

in Archena is due, according to Patricia herself,

"in using politics to serve and not to be served",

one of the mantras that she tends to repeat more frequently.

Patricia's interest in politics began at the age of 17, but the devotion she feels towards her profession began much earlier, at 8. From that age she already knew that she wanted to be a dentist and, moreover, because of a story she experienced in the first person .

"I was born with my entire palate open.

It was a very complex operation that they did to me practically as a newborn. I was hospitalized for months to recover. After that process I began to speak and there are words and sounds that I could not pronounce. I went to a speech therapist until I was 8 years and then I needed orthodontics in both the mouth and palate. Until I was 18 years old I was in follow-up and controls. This pathology taught me to be a very fighter person ".

The care she received throughout this process from maxillofacial surgeons and dentists was so important to her that she was clear about it. He wanted to be one of them and

for years he has been the owner of his own clinic in Archena,

where between the plenary session and the Town Hall meeting, he tries to reserve a day and a half for his patients.

Many of his neighbors tell him why "life has been complicated by politics" by having his clinic. "I have something inside of me that I have to give to others. If it hadn't been in politics it would have been in another field." Some of those same neighbors who come to solve some oral problem at his clinic tell him about municipal issues. "Yes, I have a patient like that. Wherever I am they ask me.

Just like in an office or at events they ask me by mouth.

It's normal. They see you as the mayor and as a dentist and they always consult you. I get along very well. The day I don't get along well will be the time to take a step back."

Patricia's growing popularity has overflowed the borders of Archena.

Her name sounds like an alternative for a candidacy that competes with López Miras for the presidency of the party in the next congress of the

popular

Murcians.

"Out of loyalty I will do what is best for my party and for my region. Any member of the party is an option to lead a project,

as my party's present has said."

The mayor of Archena

has been given the nickname of "the Murcian Díaz Ayuso"

for the aforementioned popularity and for some measures she has taken in her municipality and that are reminiscent of the president of the Community of Madrid.

"I deeply admire Isabel.

I think she has managed to earn people's affection and recognition thanks to a job well done. Especially during the toughest stage of the pandemic. The results she has achieved are there. I haven't met her personally yet but I would love to, of course."

One of Ayuso's measures that was most applauded during the pandemic was to keep hotels and businesses open.

For her part, Patricia decided to open her own line of aid to the hotel industry or pedestrianize the urban area to try to favor them.

The councilor of Archena also remembers one of the last actions she has carried out: "Do antigen tests on the entire educational community of Archena, all staff and students. We are the only municipality that has done it."

Another of them has been the reduction of the price of the industrial land of the polygon of the locality.

The mayor recognizes that she always tries to look for investment opportunities.

In 2012,

the sheik owner of Manchester City was interested in the

local team, although the agreement did not finally come to fruition.

"It didn't come out, but we're still looking for opportunities."

BEGINNINGS

Patricia joined New Generations of the PP at the age of 17, where she coincides with López Miras, with whom she has a good relationship. At just 22 years old, he already entered some electoral lists, something that his parents saw recklessly. "We are a practicing Christian family. So I went to see the priest, Don Cristóbal Guerrero Ros and I raised it with him. He answered me something very resounding:

'Christians have to be everywhere. In politics too'.

My parents They softened and only asked me to finish my degree. That's how it was, I finished it and in July 2003 I joined the City Council. And here I continue to work for all archeneros".

In the field of her personal life, Patricia is married to Andrés, a lawyer who supports his wife unconditionally since she decided to reconcile her profession and politics.

She also really likes sports and she is the mother of Martina and Andrés, ages 8 and 5.

"They are the engine of my life. I am a madrassa.

Everything revolves around them, politics too."
