• Politica Multitudinaria march against the reform of the 'Gag Law' amid cries of 'Government resignation' '': "They want to put policemen below criminals"

United We Can has sent a letter to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe denouncing the "rejection" of the police unions and political parties that oppose the reform of the Citizen Security Law, known by its detractors as Ley Jaw.

In the report, presented in Europe this Monday, the

purple ones

accuse the police organizations and the opposition -formed by PP, Vox and Ciudadanos- of being "against applying the recommendations of European organizations and institutions on the advisability of reforming the Law 4/2025 ", as requested, among others, by the committee itself addressed by the minority member of the Executive.

They also show their "concern" at the intention, they express, "to confuse Spanish public opinion about the convenience of the reform" of this law, which is promoting that in our country "an interpretation contrary to the consolidated legal and cultural heritage germinates protection of human rights, fundamental rights and guarantees and public freedoms ".

The text, advanced by Cadena Ser and accessed by this newspaper, urges the Venice Commission to have "knowledge" of the "express opposition of the professional police organizations convening the demonstration on November 27 in Madrid in against the reform of the Citizen Security Law "and also of the main opposition parties, and asks the European body to" adopt the appropriate measures within its reach to reiterate "to the aforementioned political groups and parties that it is the Commission itself of Venice which "urges" the Executive to "review" and "reform" this law due to "its repressive potential."

"Demagogy"

On the last weekend of November, more than 40 police associations, representing all bodies, took to the streets against the reform, promoted by the Government and its parliamentary partners. Under the slogan "No to insecurity in Spain", tens of thousands of people mobilized, backed by opposition parties, against a legislative amendment that, they denounce, leaves the security forces unprotected.

A story that United We can believe has been created and expanded by the right wing in order to attack the parties that make up the Government. "They disseminate in a conscious and demagogic way", Unidas Podemos accuses the opposition spokesmen, "the false argument that this reform seeks to end public security and deprive the security forces and bodies of the minimum elements and tools necessary to do your job.

In this sense, from the purple coalition they are convinced that the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos are taking advantage of the unrest among the police unions for ideological purposes.

Some groups that are to a large extent, as stated by the Secretary of State for the 2030 Agenda, Enrique Santiago, "aligned" and "coordinated" with the discourse of the "right and the extreme right."

"The aforementioned political formations and their spokespersons are expressing conceptions about the use and purpose of the legislation on citizen security that are antagonistic to the recommendations of this Commission and other public institutions," United We can denounce in its letter sent to Europe, signed by Santiago himself and by the parliamentary spokesman for United We Can, Pablo Echenique.
