(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) French New Year's Eve carnival event with 2500 people ended, police recorded 1600 illegal acts

China News Agency, Paris, January 2 (Reporter Li Yang) A New Year's Eve carnival attended by at least 2,500 people in Brittany, northwestern France, ended on January 2 local time.

According to the French Ministry of the Interior, the police have recorded 1,600 illegal acts, most of which are related to violations of epidemic prevention regulations, and several people have been detained.

French officials reported that a New Year’s Eve carnival in violation of the curfew took place in the town of Lieron in the Brittany region. A preliminary count of at least 2500 people participated.

The carnival location is in the warehouse of a local storage company.

The carnival started on December 31 last year and has not ended after New Year's Eve. It did not end until January 2 this year and lasted for dozens of hours.

The local police went to the scene on the 1st to try to control the situation and clashed with the carnival participants.

On the morning of the 2nd, carnival participants began to leave the scene.

The police took control of the scene on the 2nd and searched the warehouse.

The police confiscated part of the organizing funds, audio equipment, and drugs for the carnival.

French Minister of the Interior Darmanin welcomed the non-violent end of the incident, thanked the police and security forces who participated in the on-site operation, and revealed that the relevant investigation is still ongoing.

Up to now, a total of 7 people have been detained by the police. Two of them are believed to be the organizers of the carnival. Both were born in 1998 and have no criminal record.

The rest were detained on suspicion of illegal acts such as possession of drugs.

The 1,600 illegal activities recorded by the police mainly include: failing to observe the curfew, failing to wear a mask, and illegally participating in large-scale gatherings.

The exposure of the carnival has attracted attention from all walks of life in France, and people are worried that large-scale gatherings in violation of the curfew may lead to the spread of the virus.

Mouriez, head of the Brittany Regional Health Bureau, warned that all carnival participants are exposed to the new crown virus and are at high risk.

He urged all carnival participants to quarantine strictly at home for 7 days, not to wait for symptoms or undergo virus screening before quarantining.

The local government also called on the carnival participants to protect the health of themselves and those around them now.

The local health department has begun to conduct virus testing for some carnival participants.

According to the epidemic data released by the French Ministry of Health that night, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in France is now 2,643,239, and the cumulative number of deaths is now 64,921.
