Israeli television broadcast live how Benjamin Netanyahu rolled up his sleeve and a doctor attached the needle.

"A small injection for a man and a giant leap for the health of all of us," Netanyahu said into the cameras, referring to Neil Armstrong's famous sentence about the moon landing.

The 71-year-old isn't exactly known for his modesty;

But at the moment he has every reason to brag: Little Israel is the fastest in the world to vaccinate.

This is followed by Bahrain and Great Britain - Germany ranks 12th behind Chile.

On December 20, Israel began vaccinating.

Since then, around 600,000 of the nine million residents have been vaccinated.

On Tuesday alone there were more than 152,000, that's a good seven times as many as in Germany currently in one day.
