Berlin (dpa / bb) - The former "Entenkeller" in Berlin-Frohnau caught fire on Sunday evening.

The roof structure burned, this was visible from afar, said a fire department spokesman.

People were not in the vacant building.

Since the house was vacant, there was no danger to adjacent buildings.

According to the spokesman, the extinguishing work was difficult.

"This is a very complex roof structure with several dormers and pointed gables," he said late in the evening.

The approximately 80 emergency services are likely to be busy with the fire for several hours.

Over the years, the building on the B96 - once a popular excursion destination - has housed a hotel, a pizzeria, a bar, a disco and a pub. It has not been used since 2012 and is empty.
